Position Title: Quality Control Technician
Reports To: Quality Supervisor and Director of Quality
Schedule: Sunday - Wednesday (5:00AM-3:00PM)
Position Summary:
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing quality checks, sampling, and product testing to ensure beverage products meet internal specifications and external compliance standards. This role supports packaging and production activities with a focus on consistency, traceability, and food safety. Technicians work in collaboration with the Quality, Packaging, Blending, and Maintenance departments to uphold operational standards and continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Testing & Documentation
• Collect samples and perform analytical tests from pre-production to finished goods
• Operate lab equipment (pH Meter, Seam Scanner, PU Meter, c-DGM, c-TPOS, Density Meter, qPCR, HPLC, etc.)
• Accurately record results via paper logs, SAP, tablets, and desktop systems
• Escalate deviations to quality or production leads promptly
Process & Compliance Support
• Conduct line audits (seams, fill volume, oxygen pickup) and GMP/sanitation checks
• Assist with new QC procedures and product validations
• Maintain sensory tracking logs and product archive
Lab Maintenance
• Calibrate and maintain lab instruments
• Ensure lab is clean, organized, and audit-ready
• Support inventory tracking and supply restock
Team Training & Communication
• Communicate with production to resolve quality issues
• Train staff on testing methods and quality expectations
• Support sensory panel execution and off-flavor training
Requirements:
Education & Experience
• 1 year experience in laboratory, quality, food safety, or beverage manufacturing preferred
• Degree in a science-related field (Biology, Food Science, Chemistry) preferred but not required
• Previous experience using lab instrumentation a plus
Skills & Traits
• Strong attention to detail and documentation
• Good communication and time management skills
• Proactive approach to quality and continuous improvement
• Comfortable working in a production/lab hybrid environment
• Ability to follow SOPs and respond to dynamic production environments
Physical Demands:
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 165lbs
• Work at height or in confined spaces when needed
• Operate hand tools and execute repetitive motions
• Stand, crouch, and move throughout production/lab areas
• Wear appropriate PPE as required by task
Additional Requirements:
• 21 years of age or older
• Ability to work full shift on-site in Cincinnati, OH
• Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Ability to operate or willingness to train on:
o Manual/electric pallet jacks
o Power lifters
o Fork truck and scissor lift (on-site certification provided)
