Role Description
This full-time, on-site Controls Engineer role is based in St. Louis, MO. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, programming, and implementing control systems for various automation projects. Day-to-day tasks include developing process control systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role will also involve preparing technical documentation, ensuring system compliance, and providing support during system installation and start-ups.
Essential Functions
- Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLCs
- Lead commissioning of automation control systems and projects
- Develop SCADA/HMI solutions.
- Apply advanced ladder logic and phase logic for batch process control
- Configure, install, and maintain automation software & hardware
- Lead design reviews with client’s key stakeholders to ensure solution meets technical, system, user requirements
- Travel to client site for startup and commissioning of control system projects
- Maintain expertise and awareness on latest technology trends and vendor/partner offerings to make informed recommendations to clients that align with their needs and desired business outcomes.
- Other duties/tasks as assigned.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Expertise in Allen Bradley / Rockwell PLCs and related software
- Strong grasp of ladder logic, control system design, and troubleshooting
- SCADA/HMI experience (preferably Wonderware / and/or Ignition)
- Deep understanding of industrial controls, electrical systems, and instrumentation
- Experience commissioning network-based OT systems
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- Process and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Strong work ethic, ability to learn hands-on, attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and work cross-functionally.
Education and Experience
- BS Electrical Engineering or Automation degree
- 4 years of experience as a Controls Engineer in the SCADA field
