Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate, creative, and community-minded Teaching Artist to lead art classes for students ages 13 and up. In this role, you will design and deliver engaging, hands-on visual arts curriculum in a supportive community setting. The ideal candidate is a practicing artist who loves sharing their skills, fostering creative confidence, and connecting with diverse groups of teens and adults.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Design: Create multi-week lesson plans or single-session workshops tailored to skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced.
- Classroom Instruction: Demonstrate art techniques, introduce mediums, and provide constructive, encouraging feedback to students.
- Studio Management: Set up the classroom workspace before class, manage art supplies efficiently, and oversee clean-up.
- Safety & Inclusivity: Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment that encourages creative risk-taking.
- Community Engagement: Act as an enthusiastic ambassador for our community arts programming.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Artistic Expertise: Strong portfolio in one or more mediums (e.g., painting, drawing, ceramics, mixed media).
