ImOn Communications has been the LOCAL choice for business telecommunications services in the Siouxland area since 1997. Over the last two years, we have expanded our network to offer fiber-to-the-home Internet services to Siouxland residents. As we grow our network, we are looking for an Outside Plant (OSP) Operations Manager or Senior Manager to join our team.

The Outside Plant (OSP) Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of outside plant activities including installation, construction, and utility locating for our network. This role ensures successful deployment, maintenance, and expansion of our fiber infrastructure in Siouxland. The manager leads field teams, coordinates with contractors, manages budgets, and ensures timely project delivery. This position plays a critical role in optimizing field operations, improving productivity, ensuring safety, and driving operational excellence in alignment with company goals.
Installation Management
- Oversee Business and Residential installation efforts.
- Ensure field technicians follow proper installation procedures and quality standards.
- Monitor service orders, prioritize work, and ensure timely service activations.
- Provide technical guidance and field support as needed.
Construction Oversight
- Manage aerial and underground outside plant (OSP) construction activities.
- Develop construction schedules, allocate resources, and monitor project milestones.
- Ensure compliance with engineering designs, permits, safety standards, and company policies.
- Coordinate with internal engineering, permitting, and design teams for construction readiness.
- Work with vendors and subcontractors to ensure adherence to project scope, timeline, and budget.
Locating & Damage Prevention
- Supervise utility locating operations to protect existing infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with 811 call-before-you-dig regulations and local/state utility marking requirements.
- Investigate and document any utility damages, taking corrective action as needed.
- Promote a strong damage prevention culture across all outside plant (OSP) activities.
Team Leadership & Administration
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of field supervisors, installers, and locating technicians.
- Performs detailed job checks to ensure company standards are met. Manages employee performance and accountability.
- Interviews, hires and assists with onboarding process of new hires. Promotes and manages an efficient, professional atmosphere while maximizing profitability and retention of employees.
- Authorizes bi-weekly payroll and time-off requests of staff. Assists in annual budgeting for the department.
- Instills Company Culture within the team.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates with:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- A minimum of 4 years’ leadership or management experience.
- 4 years in Outside Plant (OSP) Construction and/or Installation.
- Strong understanding of Outside Plant OSP Network components including fiber optics, coaxial cable and copper.
- Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, construction tracking tools and Outside Plant (OSP) documentation systems.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects, meet established deadlines and change as business needs require.
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record that allows the employee to be insured by ImOn’s insurance carrier.
Senior Manager Qualifications:
- All qualifications listed above for OSP Operations Manager.
- A minimum of 7 years’ leadership or management experience.
