Position Overview
The Lab Technician role is responsible for performing functional and administrative tasks on a day-to-day basis in support of the lab's operational needs. This person performs some equipment maintenance, assists in stocking and ordering supplies, and assists with lab functions and organization where needed. The Lab Technician will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day laboratory activities, such as waste removal, lab cleans, shipping, and receiving. The person in this role should have excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills. This position reports to the Lab Operations Specialist.

Responsibilities
Lab Operations
- Support daily laboratory operations, including supporting in inventory of common lab consumables, lab chores, and some equipment maintenance.
- Support equipment and facilities ongoing operations.
- Assist with standard, hazardous, and biohazardous waste disposal.
- Respond to lab related alerts (temperature breaches, power outages, etc.)
- Shipping and receiving (DOT and IATA HazMat training provided).
- Regular freezer maintenance.
- Procure reagents, supplies and equipment.
- Perform internal reagent and chemical inventory checks.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and lab organization.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology), or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experience with inventory management, stocking, and ordering supplies.
- Excellent customer service skills, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
