We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated **Managing Attorney** {VALID NY BAR} to lead our litigation department and oversee our legal teams. This senior role requires a proven track record in complex litigation, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards. Experience in the field of immigration law is a distinct advantage. Experience in Personal Injury is an advantage.
Location: Jackson Heights, NY.
Reports To: Principal Attorney
Compensation: $100,000 - $150,000 USD (base salary) plus profit sharing and comprehensive benefits.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management (50%)
- Supervision and Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Talent Development: Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, and professional development of legal staff. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Workflow Management: Develop and implement effective case management procedures, policies, and best practices to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance across all legal matters.
- Caseload Oversight: Monitor and manage attorney and staff caseloads, ensuring proper allocation of resources, adherence to deadlines, and quality control of legal work product.
- Ethical Compliance: Ensure that all legal operations and staff adhere strictly to the Rules of Professional Conduct and firm policies.
Litigation & Legal Strategy (40%)
- Direct Caseload: Manage a limited personal caseload of complex and high-profile litigation matters, from inception through trial and appeal, maintaining an active practice.
- Strategic Direction: Oversee all litigation strategy, including discovery, motions practice, negotiations, and trial preparation. Provide expert legal guidance and approval on critical case decisions.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal, ethical, and operational risks to the firm and its clients.
- Litigation Excellence: Establish and enforce quality standards for all pleadings, briefs, and court submissions.
Operational & Financial Management (10%)
- Financial Oversight: Collaborate with firm leadership on developing and monitoring the department's budget, managing expenditures, and overseeing billing processes to ensure financial health.
- Inter-Departmental Liaison: Serve as a key member of the firm’s management or leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and firm-wide goals.
- Community Engagement: Maintain and build relationships with community partners, co-counsel, and professional organizations to enhance the firm's reputation and business development efforts.
Required Qualifications
- * **J.D. Degree** from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of NEW YORK
- * **Minimum of 7 years of increasingly responsible legal experience**, with a significant focus on **litigation**.
- * **Minimum of 3 years of experience in a formal supervisory or management role** over other attorneys and legal staff.
- * Exceptional organizational, analytical, negotiation, and written/verbal communication skills.
- * Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor legal professionals and cultivate a positive team culture.

Highly Advantageous Experience
- * **Experience in Immigration Law** (e.g., removal defense, asylum, family-based petitions, employment-based visas). Experience with immigration court and USCIS procedures is a significant asset.
- * Bilingual or multilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish, French, Arabic) are a plus.
