POSITION: Elementary Paraprofessional/Teacher Aide
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Classroom Teacher and Principal, in that order
PURPOSE: Assist the Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, loving environment to the children enrolled. To provide assistance and support to the teacher and direction for the children.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Personal

Program/Facility
1. Assist the teacher as directed in order to provide appropriate school experiences in all areas of development.
2. Assist the teacher in preparing the physical environment and maintaining order in the environment.
3. Assist the teacher in preparing instructional material, organization, and record keeping.
4. Serve as a guide in instructing students on proper classroom behavior.
5. Assist the students in learning activities as directed by the teacher.
6. Assist students who need additional help learning a specific concept.
7. Help teachers keep records for grading and attendance.
8. Reinforce lessons by reviewing material one-on-one and in small groups with students.
9. Assist in supervision activities, ensuring the safety of the children at all times.
10. Report problems which may occur with the children or with the parents (volunteers) to the teacher without discussing it with others.
11. Observe, record, and report a child’s behavior as assigned.
12. Attend all activities, school functions, or programs as directed by the teacher or Principal.
1. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
2. Must be able to stand, squat, bend, stoop and sit frequently and for extended periods of time.
3. Must pass a background check.
4. Have childcare experience or coursework in early childhood, child development, or elementary education.
