Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Full-Time Accountant/Business Manager to join our finance team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial health and integrity of our large parish organizations by managing comprehensive accounting functions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in corporate accounting, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance, combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement. As a vital member of our team, you will help ensure accurate financial reporting, streamline accounting operations, and support strategic decision-making through insightful financial analysis.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements.
- Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely processing and accurate record-keeping.
- Vigilantly track school tuition collections.
- Conduct bank reconciliations, cash flow analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities by providing detailed financial analysis and insights.
- Utilize Excel and accounting software (Quickbooks online) platforms to record transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with regulatory reporting requirements related to Archdiocesan standards.
- Report directly to the Pastor.
Experience
- Proven experience in corporate or public accounting with a strong understanding of best practice and finance standards.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, and journal entry management.
- Familiarity with financial compliance requirements and internal control processes.
- Hands-on experience with Quickbooks and Excel.
- Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles, debits & credits, and accrual accounting methods.
- Ability to interpret financial reports and communicate findings clearly through written reports or presentations.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with a solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial management concepts.
