Position Overview
We are seeking an Enrollment & Intake Specialist to work onsite within a healthcare environment in St. Joseph, Missouri.
In this role, you will advocate for patients and their families while working closely with hospital personnel and government agencies to determine eligibility for Medicaid, Social Security Disability, and various county assistance programs. You will serve as a liaison between patients, healthcare staff, and government entities to help secure available funding for healthcare services.
The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable communicating with patients and outside agencies while managing multiple cases and maintaining confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Determine patient eligibility for state, federal, and county assistance programs.
- Manage an assigned caseload and maintain established productivity standards.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with hospital staff, patients, and state or government agency representatives.
- Assist patients and families throughout the enrollment and eligibility process.
- Prepare required documentation and ensure information is accurate and complete.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and HITECH requirements.
- Follow established organizational policies, procedures, and standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong problem-solving and case management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with computers, phone systems, and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to handle confidential patient information appropriately.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Knowledge of Medicaid, Social Security Administration, and county social service programs.
- Experience working within a hospital, healthcare, social services, eligibility, enrollment, or case management environment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and HITECH patient confidentiality requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods.
- Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate standard office equipment, including computers, keyboards, phones, photocopiers, and calculators.
- Ability to communicate effectively and prepare and review reports and documentation.
- Ability to occasionally lift papers, files, or boxes weighing up to 15 pounds.
- Work is performed onsite within a hospital or healthcare facility. Occasional travel to other offices or facilities may be required.
