Job Purpose
As a member of the Research & Development team, the Development Test Engineer works closely with hardware and software design engineers throughout the entire product development lifecycle. The role focuses on defining requirements, developing test strategies, building test systems, and executing verification and validation activities to ensure robust, high‑quality electromechanical products. Core responsibilities include:
- Participating in the definition of requirements and technical specifications
- Developing test protocols and validation plans early in the design cycle
- Designing and implementing test setups (hardware and software)
- Executing verification and validation testing on prototypes
- Performing debugging and root‑cause analysis in collaboration with development teams
- Providing technical feedback to drive design improvements
- Enhancing product quality through early defect detection and systematic validation
Main Responsibilities
- Executes advanced functional, endurance, and environmental testing on complex electromechanical systems, including valves, actuators, smart devices, and sensor technologies (in HVAC systems).
- Collaborates with Design Engineering teams during concept and prototype phases to develop detailed test plans, validation protocols, and measurement methodologies.
- Conducts competitive benchmarking, generating technical insights that guide early-stage design decisions and product optimization.
- Authors technical specifications, validation procedures, and compliance documentation for electromechanical product qualification.
- Performs software verification and validation on embedded systems for prototype and production‑ready devices.
- Designs, develops, and maintains custom test rigs, measurement systems, and automated test equipment (ATE) for mechanical and electronic evaluation.
- Ensures laboratory equipment reliability through scheduled calibration, servicing, certification, and lifecycle management.
- Works cross-functionally with R&D, electronics, mechanics, and systems engineering teams to support integrated product development.
- Engages with suppliers to specify, procure, and commission new laboratory instrumentation and upgrades to existing test infrastructure.
- Partners with external research institutions, consultants, and universities on applied research and advanced development initiatives.
- Ensures adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality frameworks.
- Maintains laboratory operations in compliance with occupational safety, fire protection, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electronic, mechatronic, or related engineering field, Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years as a Development Test Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing test protocols, designing test equipment, and working with HVAC‑related technologies.
- Technical knowledge: electronics, mechanics, embedded systems, sensors, signal analysis, flow and differential pressure measurement, pumps, power systems, communication protocols.
- Programming: basic knowledge of LabVIEW, Python for test automation and equipment integration.
- Engineering mindset: strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, systems thinking, ability to work with incomplete information, actively seeks opportunities to enhance product quality, test efficiency, and engineering processes.
- Soft skills: communication, teamwork, structured documentation, adaptability.
