IMEG is seeking an experienced Independent Contractor to provide Construction Management by Agent (CMa) services on a project-based, as-needed basis. This role requires frequent travel to project sites nationwide. The Independent Contractor should be able and willing to accommodate travel as part of the engagement. This role will support the planning, coordination, and oversight of construction activities, acting as the owner’s representative to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, on schedule, and in alignment with established goals.


Principal Responsibilities

  • Provide services as the Owner’s representative, managing assigned projects from pre-construction through closeout, including schedule, budget, and cost controls
  • Coordinate and facilitate communication among the Owner, design professionals, contractors, and other stakeholders to support timely, compliant project delivery
  • Monitor construction progress through site observations, reporting on quality, schedule, budget, and general conformance with contract documents, codes, and applicable regulations
  • Assist with procurement and contract administration activities, including review of bids, submittals, RFIs, change requests, pay applications, and project documentation
  • Prepare and present regular project status reports, cost and schedule updates, and closeout documentation for the Owner and other stakeholders


Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, best practices, and applicable safety regulations, with the ability to understand and communicate project requirements, policies, and standards
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coordination skills, including the ability to lead discussions, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and clearly convey complex information in writing and verbally
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong time-management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities in a dynamic project environment
  • Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to meet project access and site requirements, including a valid driver’s license, and a willingness to travel


Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Construction Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years minimum of qualifying experience

OR

  • 9 years minimum of qualifying experience with no bachelor’s degree


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk construction sites, including uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and scaffolding, as required for site observations.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods during site visits and meetings
  • Ability to visually observe work in progress and read plans, schedules, and reports.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to a reasonable weight (often 20-20 lbs)


Compensation

This is a 1099 independent contractor role. Compensation is a monthly contract fee ranging from $20,000-$25,000, intended to be all-inclusive of travel and business-related expenses. Contractor is responsible for all taxes, insurance, and expenses incurred in the performance of services.
