What You'll Do
- Assist with design portions of chemical process projects according to code and IMEG standards.
- Research commercially available equipment and support the development of equipment and instrument specifications.
- Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s).
- Perform and document technical and engineering calculations associated with design tasks.
- Perform field work to document existing conditions and current installations.
- Support cost estimate development, including quote solicitation from vendors.
- Assist in process controls design and development and bid package documentation development.
- Review project construction progress and help monitor overall project design progress.
- Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions promptly for permanent record files.
- Assist with review of project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
- Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
Required Education
- Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Chemical Engineering, or equivalent required
- Strong interest in design consulting
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D experience a plus
- Prior internship experience in the engineering consulting or chemical process industry preferred
