Plumbing Project Designer | Las Vegas, NV IMEG is hiring a Plumbing Project Designer in Las Vegas, Nevada, to support the design and delivery of plumbing systems for low- to moderate-complexity building projects while collaborating with senior staff on larger, more complex work. In this role, you will provide engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight, working closely with engineers and consultants to deliver practical solutions and positive client outcomes. You’ll also help manage project budgets while mentoring teammates and collaborating across functions to meet project goals and client expectations. Principal Responsibilities • Lead design efforts for the analysis of plumbing and fire protection systems • Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards • Interact with clients to understand project needs, gather requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain professional relationships • Support project execution by leading planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines and objectives • Document design decisions, client instructions, and project progress related to percent complete and fee expended • Analyze engineering problems and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions • Perform in-process design reviews of plumbing and fire protection system designs, calculations, and specifications • Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet IMEG standards, industry standards, and client requirements • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in plumbing engineering and contribute to research and innovation efforts within IMEG • Prioritize safety by identifying and mitigating risks associated with plumbing systems and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions • Identify potential project problems, seek advice from the Project Manager, and support projects through bidding and construction administration phases Required Qualifications and Skills • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required • Engineering In Training (EIT) Certification preferred • ASPE Certified Plumbing Design preferred • Associates degree, or equivalent required • Engineering In Training (EIT) Certification preferred • ASPE Certified Plumbing Design preferred • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred • 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred • ASPE Certified Plumbing Design preferred • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry • Functional expertise in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications • Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics as they relate to plumbing and fire protection design for buildings • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff • Advanced proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools • Mastery of code calculations for domestic water, waste, and vent systems • Advanced knowledge of specialty plumbing systems (medical gas, laboratory gas, high rise, rainwater / grey water systems) as applicable based on team market focus • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills • Proficiency in the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays This position is not eligible for sponsorship. Plumbing Team Highlights • IMEG’s plumbing engineers design reliable and efficient plumbing systems for all types of facilities. • Team work includes domestic cold/hot water supply, water heating systems, sanitary sewer and vent, stormwater drainage, and specialty plumbing such as medical gases and laboratory water systems. • Designs emphasize water conservation and public health, including low-flow fixtures, rainwater harvesting where applicable, and compliance with plumbing and health codes. • For complex buildings, the team models plumbing systems in 3D to coordinate with structure and other trades, minimizing conflicts. • IMEG also addresses fire protection plumbing in concert with fire protection engineers, delivering safe, functional, and sustainable plumbing solutions. Locations available: Las Vegas, NV State of Nevada Salary Range: $83,000 - $112,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
