Key Responsibilities1. Modernization & API Enablement Build API interfaces over existing IMS applications using HATS, Z/OS Connect, and IMS Connect. Capture and automate complex IMS conversational screen flows for API consumption. Design and implement reusable HATS modules and REST services that encapsulate green-screen navigation. Integrate HATS-generated services with Z/OS Connect API provider to deliver modern REST APIs for downstream systems (e.g., Pega). 2. IMS Refactoring (Medium-Term Modernization) Analyze MFS screen programs to separate business logic, presentation logic, and data access. Refactor legacy COBOL/IMS programs into callable modules (LUWs) for stateless integration. Create clean request/response COPYBOOKs suitable for Z/OS Connect. 3. IMS Architecture Stability Assess and redesign how conversational flows depend on: LTERM state CSA segments Full-function IMS databases Implement IMS Connect user exits to manage LTERM continuity or dynamic assignment. 4. Tools, Platforms, and Infrastructure Install, configure, and maintain: HATS Studio Z/OS Connect EE IMS Connect exit routines Optimize IMS transaction throughput and reduce screen-driven dependencies
