This internship is located on-site in Peoria, IL. Applicants should be available to work 10-20 hours per week.
IMEC is seeking a motivated college intern that is ready to help Illinois Manufacturers and interested in learning about the industry along the way. At IMEC, we believe in helping Illinois small and mid-sized manufacturers grow and compete on a global scale. Our team meets with manufacturers throughout the state to discuss what they are seeing in the industry and how IMEC can assist them. As the only nonprofit manufacturing consulting firm in Illinois, we are in a unique position to:
Utilize our 1,000 partners to meet manufacturers’ business needs, from training and hiring to adopting robotics on their shop floor
Offer services that can fit within their budgets
Utilize grants and other federal funding to better serve manufacturers
A Day in the Life
In this position, an IMEC intern will work directly with IMEC’s President to help him accomplish the following tasks:
Communicate program initiatives and strategic plans with IMEC Board, leadership, and team
Review organizational work processing activities to assure effective/efficient operations
Compile narrative, financial, and statistical information concerning IMEC’s operations
Develop and maintain effective relationships with organizational partners
Continually assess the challenges facing small and mid-sized manufacturers
Champion the mission of IMEC to the team, clients, Board, third parties, and legislators

This position requires both administrative skills (scheduling appointments, printing copies, etc.), as well as creativity (conducting research, brainstorming new program ideas with the President, writing content), and data analysis (pulling data from IMEC’s systems to write reports and create accompanying graphics). You will also have the opportunity to learn how a non-profit operates and the ins and outs of the Illinois manufacturing community.
Qualifications
Pursuing a degree in engineering, manufacturing, or business-related fields from an accredited University
Desire to help small and mid-sized manufacturers
Organization skills
Strong attention to detail
Research skills
Ability to think and act creatively
- Ability to work in Peoria, IL office for a minimum of 10-20 hours per week.
