Contract Duration: 13 weeks Contract

Pay Rate: $50 to $55/hr on W2

• 12-hour night shifts
• 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 3 shifts per week
• Weekend shifts not required; may be requested 1–2 weekends per month
• Holiday coverage required based on unit needs

The Emergency Room Psychiatric Registered Nurse (ER Psych RN) provides specialized psychiatric care and crisis intervention for behavioral health patients presenting to the Emergency Department. This is a highly independent role where ED physicians rely on the RN’s psychiatric assessment, clinical judgment, and disposition recommendations following medical clearance.

• Provide primary nursing care for high-risk psychiatric patients in the Emergency Department
• Administer psychiatric medications and implement restraints and safety interventions as needed
• Utilize verbal de-escalation and crisis management techniques to manage aggressive or unstable behavior
• Monitor patient safety and coordinate appropriate care pathways

• Perform comprehensive psychiatric assessments for patients presenting with behavioral health concerns
• Determine appropriate disposition including inpatient admission, involuntary hold, transfer, or discharge
• Develop safety plans and coordinate placement, transport, and follow-up care

• Respond to Behavioral Response Team (BRT) calls throughout the hospital
• Assist bedside staff during behavioral emergencies
• Collaborate with ED physicians, nursing leadership, security, and law enforcement to maintain a safe environment

• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Room nursing experience
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient psychiatric nursing experience (hospital setting preferred)
• Demonstrated experience with:
• Psychiatric assessments and disposition planning
• Violent or aggressive patients
• Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Use of restraints and emergency psychiatric medications

• Active Kansas RN license or Compact RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)

• No floating required
• No on-call requirements
• Facility is nicotine-free
• Bi-weekly pay period
• 8-hour non-billable orientation
