Job Title: Medical Coder
Location: Remote/Hybrid (1 - 2 weeks for training onsite)
Employment Type: Contract
Start Date: ASAP
Shift Time: 8am to 4pm
Pay Rate: $30 to $40/hr on W2
Initial training is required limited onsite presence (typically 1–2 weeks, if required). Post-Training work is remote.
🔍 Position Overview
As a Medical Coder, you will review patient medical records and assign correct ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for inpatient and/or outpatient services. You’ll ensure coding meets CMS, AMA, and NYCHH guidelines while supporting reimbursement, audit readiness, and reporting accuracy.
🧩 Responsibilities
- Review and analyze clinical documentation for completeness
- Assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes
- Apply correct modifiers and coding guidelines
- Query providers for clarification when needed
- Ensure compliance with CMS, AMA, and NYCHH coding standards
- Meet productivity and quality benchmarks
- Support denial resolution and billing accuracy
- Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA)
📚 Required Qualifications
- Active coding certification: CPC, CCS, CCS-P, or CCA
- 1–3 years of coding experience (hospital or professional)
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS
- Experience with EHR systems (Epic preferred)
- Ability to meet productivity and accuracy requirements
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy

- DRG/APC coding experience
- Familiarity with Medicaid/Medicare billing guidelines
