IMC PhD Fellowship

IMC is offering academic funding to exceptional doctoral candidates studying STEM subjects, such as computer science, applied math, artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistics, and engineering.

If you have fewer than two years remaining in your PhD program and are not currently a fellow at a trading or tech company, the IMC Fellowship could be the next step in your research journey.

Please submit your application and all documents by February 6, 2026.

IMC PhD Fellowship Award Details

• The IMC Fellow will receive USD 50,000 towards education-related expenses (e.g., tuition, fees, and research). This award will be paid directly to the IMC Fellow’s university for distribution.
• The IMC Fellow will also receive an option to participate in a 2027 summer internship at IMC.
• In addition, the IMC Fellow is assigned a dedicated IMC mentor to help them launch a career in quant research for trading.
• IMC will also provide the Fellow with a travel stipend to attend a research conference, such as NeurIPS or ICML. IMC will book flights and a hotel for the Fellow. The Fellow will be reimbursed for food expenses up to the IMC daily amount (currently $50/day). We will also reimburse the Fellow for Uber rides to/from the airport, as well as for conference activities and IMC-sponsored conference events.
• All award payments and recipients will be reviewed for compliance with relevant US and international laws, regulations, and policies. IMC reserves the right to withhold or cease funding due to a violation of applicable laws, regulations, IMC’s policies, or the policies and guidelines of the recipient’s university.
  
  

All IMC PhD Fellowship Finalists will receive USD 5,000 in academic support, administered through Finalists’ university, the opportunity to participate in IMC Research Connect event in April 2026. The first Finalist will also receive an option to participate in a 2027 summer internship at IMC.

Eligibility Criteria

• PhD students in STEM with emphasis on fields such as CS, Applied Math, Statistics or Engineering
• Two or fewer years of PhD study remaining
• Ability to participate in an IMC internship in 2027
• You have not accepted any other Fellowships
  
  

PhD Fellowships typically require coordination with your university for payment. If you’re selected, we’ll partner with you and your program to arrange the award.
