Role Overview:
As the Electrical Preconstruction Manager, you will lead the estimating, budgeting, design-assist, and preconstruction efforts for electrical construction projects across multifamily, commercial, industrial, and institutional markets. You will play a critical role in securing new business opportunities and setting projects up for success by providing accurate estimates, strategic planning, value engineering solutions, and seamless transitions from preconstruction to operations.
Working closely with clients, developers, general contractors, design teams, and internal operations leadership, you will oversee all aspects of the preconstruction process, ensuring proposals are competitive, comprehensive, and aligned with project objectives. This role serves as a key bridge between business development, estimating, and project execution teams. This role reports directly to the President of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all preconstruction activities from project pursuit through turnover to operations.
- Review drawings, specifications, conceptual designs, and project requirements to develop accurate cost estimates and budgets.
- Prepare detailed conceptual, schematic, design-development, and construction document estimates.
- Manage bid strategy development, scope analysis, risk assessments, and proposal preparation.
- Coordinate and lead project takeoffs, labor analysis, material pricing, and subcontractor solicitation.
- Evaluate bid documents and identify scope gaps, exclusions, clarifications, and potential risks.
- Collaborate with owners, developers, architects, engineers, and general contractors during design and budgeting phases.
- Develop and present value engineering recommendations that improve constructability, cost efficiency, and project performance.
- Participate in design-assist and design-build project delivery processes.
- Support contract reviews and ensure alignment between awarded scope and estimate assumptions.
- Lead project handoff meetings with Project Managers and Operations teams to ensure successful project startup.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, subcontractors, and industry partners.
- Monitor market trends, labor rates, material pricing, and industry developments to maintain estimating accuracy.
- Develop and maintain estimating standards, databases, historical cost information, and best practices.
- Mentor and support estimators to enhance team performance and professional growth.
Required Skills and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of electrical estimating, preconstruction, project management, or related construction experience
- Experience with multifamily, commercial, and/or industrial projects preferred
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, NEC requirements, and construction means and methods
- Experience with estimating software such as Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, Trimble, or similar platforms preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BuildingConnected, or similar platforms preferred
- Electrical License, Journeyman License, or equivalent industry certifications are a plus
Capabilities:
- Advanced knowledge of electrical construction methods, systems, materials, and labor productivity.
- Strong understanding of commercial, multifamily, and industrial construction projects.
- Expertise in conceptual estimating, budgeting, value engineering, and cost analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, BIM models, and contract documents.

Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with periodic visits to active construction sites
- Extended use of computers, estimating software, and digital construction documents
- Occasional travel for client meetings, project sites, and preconstruction coordination
- Travel approximately 10% based on project and business development needs

- This position is 100% onsite and requires the employee to be physically present at our office in Middleburg, FL during regular business hours.
