What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Assistant (Fleet Safety and Compliance Assistant) position at IMC Companies LLC?

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Assisting with recruitment process of qualified Owner Operators and Company Drivers for all Ohio Valley Region terminals
- As needed, assist qualifying North Atlantic Region applicants
- Review applications being processed and interview driver applicants (pre-qualify)
- Send electronic VOPE’s for new driver applicants
- Communicate with Recruiters and Application Processors to get driver applicants qualified
- Update applicant and new hire information in Tenstreet
- Schedule pre-employment drug screening and HPE testing as needed
- Prepare for and coordinate new driver orientation classes
- As needed contact existing drivers regarding expiring documents, monthly safety training, MMR reports to ensure they are completed before expiration dates
- Audit documents submitted by drivers for accuracy and request corrections as needed.
- Upload and index new documents into the required database(s)
- Follow accident reporting procedures if notified of an accident or injury
- Assist drivers with Hours of Service and ELD resolutions
- Receive random drug/alcohol test notices and create passports for the driver/clinic
- Assist with Driver Safety Awards Presentations
- Answering Safety phone calls
- Participate in ongoing Safety team training
- Assist with all aspects of safety compliance as needed (coverage of vacations, sick days, staff shortages)
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to follow guide to complete qualification for onboarding new drivers
- Good knowledge of FMCSR (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations)
- Excellent understanding of FMCSR part 391 – Qualification of Drivers
- Ability and desire to promote IMC to potential CMV drivers
- Ability to promote the IMC Safety Culture to new and existing drivers
- Knowledge and understanding of general truck maintenance and repair.
- Minimal travel to Corporate offices (Collierville, TN) & Region locations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Some college preferred, but not required
- Strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
