Job Overview
Imani House Inc. is seeking a part time after school cheerleading coach who is available for 2 - 4 hours a week. They will be located in our school, near downtown Brooklyn, NY. This position requires previous experience with child care & coding and a full background check.
Duties
- Design and implement engaging cheerleading training sessions that develop stunting, tumbling, dance routines, and team coordination.
- Teach proper cheerleading techniques, safety procedures, and performance skills to students of various ages and skill levels.
- Plan and choreograph routines for competitions, pep rallies, school events, and performances.
- Foster a supportive team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, discipline, and positive behavior management.
- Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt coaching strategies to meet individual needs.
- Organize practice schedules, coordinate transportation for competitions, and ensure all activities adhere to safety standards.
- Promote health and fitness by incorporating warm-up exercises, stretching routines, and injury prevention techniques.
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and other coaches to support student-athletes’ overall development.
Requirements
- Proven experience in cheerleading coaching or performing at a competitive or school level.
- Strong background in sports coaching with knowledge of cheerleading stunts, tumbling, dance choreography, and team leadership.
- Experience working with students of diverse ages; ability to motivate and manage behavior effectively.
- Familiarity with physical education principles, including teaching physical skills such as gymnastics or martial arts like karate or judo would be a plus.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to cheerleading stunts and physical activities; certification in CPR/First Aid preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to teach physical skills clearly while maintaining a lively and motivating atmosphere.
