JOB DESCRIPTION - After School Program CURRICULUM COACH
Their duties include developing a comprehensive curriculum, planning daily activities, and assisting students with assignments. They also interact with parents and other staff members to create a safe and fun learning environment for children.
Help facilitate training for teachers and staff to assure compliance with federal and state special education regulations
Oversee the development, tracking, dissemination and proper implementation of IEP mandated accommodations and modifications for students.
● Research, develop, and test new academic curricula and teaching methods or improve existing academic curricula for students with behavioral problems or IEP’s
● Coordinate with teachers and directors to select appropriate academic textbooks and materials for use in the classroom
● Coach staff to implement new or existing academic curricula and materials
● Advise teachers and administrators on education regulations and best practices, and suggest innovative ideas that will enhance teaching and learning
● Attend required CDE meetings and professional development trainings related to curriculum development
Ability to create and implement fun and engaging developmentally appropriate activities in the areas of common cores, character development, project based learning, STEAM, fitness and recreation, academics/enrichment.
·Plans and implements a variety of daily recreational and enrichment activities that align with educating the whole child, create monthly themes for groups; continually interfacing with members, volunteers, staff, and parents.
·Ability to lead and supervise small and large groups by recognizing potential issues and following EEC guideline and procedures for problem solving methods as needed.
·Ability to observe students behavior, as its appropriateness and apply appropriate behavior management techniques, positive redirection, or appropriate corrective action as necessary to support members in making positive behavior choices.
· Identify student needs and communicate to Site Director.
·Assists Site Director in scheduling guest speakers, clinics, excursions relevant to the program.
·Evaluates the program daily to suggest improvement, needs, hazards and/or trends to Site Director for further evaluation.
· Observes students daily to check for bruises, cuts, scrapes, rashes, or other indications of injury or illness to report to Site Director for further evaluation.
· As a member of the Leadership Team, sets a positive example in food selection, exercise, personal habits, and attitudes.
·Demonstrate reliability and punctuality by arriving on-time for scheduled shift.
·Attendance and participation at all required staff meetings, trainings, and development activities.
