This entry-level position supports state-of-the-art patient care by assisting licensed technologists across multiple modalities, including X-Ray, CT, and mammography. The role is designed for students in their 2nd year of an AMA-approved radiologic technology program. Under direct supervision, the associate performs supportive tasks, observes procedures, and gains broad exposure while following IA protocols and service commitments. Scheduling accommodates academic demands, with assignments determined by operational priorities and the associate's progressing competencies.

Job Duties (May not include all duties of this job)

  • Procedures: Assists with technical procedures in X-ray, CT or mammography per national standards and IA protocals under direct supervision of a licensed technologist. Observes and supports imaging/positioning as directed.
  • Documentation: Accurately completes records and supports daily QA/improvement activities under supervision. Meets regulatory standards.
  • Equipment: Assists with basic setup, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting across modalities. Helps optimize supplies. 
  • Supplies and Inventory: Stocks work areas daily as needed.
  • Safety and Education: complies with ALARA, radiation safety, and modality-specific protocols. Completes required education for program/school. Maintain BLS.
  • Communication: Communicates effectively with team members, physicians and patients. Participates in all staff meetings as able. Supports scheduling coordination under direction.
  • Implements care recognizing age/diversity needs.
  • Preforms other assigned supportive duties within defined scope (no independant clinical decisions or unsupervised imaging).
Requirements
  • Education: Currently enrolled in an AMA-approved radiologic technology program. Good academic standing.
  • Experience: None required; prior healthcare exposure beneficial.
  • Licennsure/Certification: BLS required. Must pursue ARRT registration pathway per program (full registration expected post graduation for advancement).
  • Other: Strong sommunication, adaptability, and eagerness to learn across modalities. Ability to work with diverse stakeholders. Regular attendance required. English Proficiency.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift/push/pull unassisted up to 50 lbs on an accasional basis (up to 33% of day). Must also be able to lift/push/pull/carry unnassisted up to 50 lbs on a frequent basis (up to 66% of day) (such as when pushing wheelchairs, carts, stretchers, moving patients, utilizing draw sheets/transfer boards and equipment, rolling patients, ect.).
  • May be required to assist with moving patients who need maximim or total assistance. For patients weighing greater than 100 lbs who need maximum or total assistance, employees are responsible for utilizing equipment such as tranfer boards, patient lift devices, and/or additional personnel.
  • Demonstrates proper body mechanics and knowledge of correct techniques for lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying.
  • Demonstrates proper body mechanics and knowledge of correct techniques for all types of transfers or patients to cover unusual situatuions/emergencies as well as in the duty of direct patient care. (Enlists assistance from others as appropriate).
  • Must have ability to grasp with strength of 50 lbs.
  • Requires simple manipulation skills such as writing.
  • Must be physically mobile to scan. Must possess mobility to both upper limbs in order to properly scan and position patients.
  • Must be able to constantly preform simple tasks requiring hand-eye coordination such as keyboard entry, and I.V. catheter placement.
  • Requires large amounts of walking and standing, 90% of time on feet, approximately 60-70% of time walking.
  • Requires visual acuity to visualize small anatomy and pathology on small screens while scanning.
  • Must be able to adapt to dim lights.
  • Must be able to distinguish between different colors.

Mental Requirements:

  • Must be competent to make technical and medical decisions, yet follow instructions.
  • Requires good mental health to deal with stressful situations and a variety of contacts (i.e. co-workers, physicians, patients, ect.)
  • Must be ale to adapt to department routines without conflict.
  • Must be able to concentate on details with numerous interruptions.
  • Must be able to keep a calm and patient temperament.

Mental Requirements:

  • Responsible for or makes daily use of equipment or supplies requiring moderate attention to prevent loss or damage. (Care and maintenance would include, but not be limited to helping maintain service contracts and all annual PM's)
