Imagine This Women's International Film Festival (ITWIFF) is a New York City-based nonprofit film festival dedicated to amplifying the voices of women, non-binary, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA filmmakers from around the world. Since its founding, ITWIFF has showcased hundreds of independent films and screenplays, with alumni including Oscar-winning, BAFTA-winning, Emmy-nominated, and NAACP Image Award-winning filmmakers.
The 11th Annual Imagine This Women's International Film Festival will take place September 25–27, 2026, at Regal Union Square in New York City.
ITWIFF is seeking an experienced DCP Projectionist in the NYC area to oversee all screening operations throughout the festival weekend. This role is critical to ensuring seamless and professional film presentations for filmmakers, industry guests, and audiences.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience working with Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs), digital cinema servers, KDM management, and live event troubleshooting. As Regal will not provide dedicated projection support during the festival, the projectionist must be comfortable working independently and managing all technical screening needs.
- Operate digital cinema projection systems for all festival screenings
- Ingest, verify, and organize DCPs before and during the festival
- Test content and ensure all screenings are presentation-ready
- Manage and troubleshoot KDMs, playlists, and server-related issues
- Coordinate with the ITWIFF programming team regarding screening schedules, run times, and cue sheets
- Monitor screenings and respond promptly to technical issues
- Maintain clear communication with festival staff throughout the event
- Be available and on-site during all scheduled festival screening hours
- Must be based in the New York City area
- Must be available September 25–27, 2026
- Proven experience with DCP playback and digital cinema servers (Doremi, Dolby, Barco, Christie, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of SMPTE and Interop DCP standards
- Experience managing KDMs and resolving ingestion or playback issues
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced live-event environment
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills
- Calm and professional under pressure
- Prior experience working with film festivals, independent cinemas, arthouse theaters, or similar exhibition venues
- Professional references required
This is a paid freelance contract position. Compensation is negotiable and will be based on experience and qualifications.
A pre-festival technical walkthrough and preparation period may be required prior to the event.
