Job Title: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST
Reports To: Principal / School Leader
Position Overview
The School Psychologist is a key member of the student support team, working within a Multi-
Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to enhance students’ academic achievement,
social-emotional development, and overall well-being. This role collaborates with educators,
families, administrators, and community providers to create safe, supportive, and effective
learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Evaluation
Administer, score, and interpret psychoeducational and psychometric assessments.
Analyze and integrate data from multiple sources to inform decision-making.
Share evaluation results with stakeholders in a clear and meaningful way.
Complete reports in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Student Support & Intervention
Provide direct services and interventions for students with academic, behavioral, and
social-emotional needs.
Design and implement mental health prevention and intervention programs.
Support crisis intervention and resolution within the school setting.
Set individualized learning and behavioral goals based on student strengths.
Consultation & Collaboration
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and school teams to develop and implement
effective strategies.
Consult with families to support student success and well-being.
Serve as a liaison between school, home, and community services.
Mentor and support teachers working with high-risk students.
Program Development & Systems Support
Assist in identifying and implementing evidence-based interventions.
Support school-wide initiatives that improve student outcomes.
Participate in MTSS, mental health teams, and school committees.
Research and apply best practices to improve student well-being and engagement.
Additional Duties
Model positive character and professional ethics.
Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development.
Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership.
Qualifications
Required
Master’s degree or higher in School Psychology or related field.
Valid certification or licensure as a School Psychologist (per state requirements).
Knowledge of psychological testing, behavioral interventions, and student development.
Preferred
2–3 years of experience in a school or similar setting.
Strong understanding of federal and state regulations.
Experience working in diverse, multicultural environments.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong collaboration and consultation skills.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication.
Ability to interpret data and apply problem-solving strategies.
Knowledge of curriculum, learning processes, and behavioral supports.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work actively with students, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up
to 20–30 pounds as needed.
Ability to perform duties requiring mobility and sustained physical activity throughout the
school day.
