Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in medical billing, dental assisting, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in dental billing or in a dental office.
- Proficient in dental billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems. Currently using carestack.
- Familiarity with dental coding and insurance practices.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient service.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles is a plus.
Responsibilities Include
- Accurately process dental claims and invoices for services rendered.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits, obtaining necessary pre-authorizations when required.
- Maintain and update patient records to ensure accurate billing.
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim issues, appeals, and denials.
- Assist patients with billing inquiries, payment plans, and account statements.
- Follow up on unpaid invoices and outstanding insurance claims to ensure timely payment.
- Collaborate with the dental team to provide accurate coding for procedures based on industry standards.
- Monitor accounts receivable reports and provide timely updates to management.
