Job Summary
As part of the Engineering Department, the Technical Writer is responsible for creating high-quality instruction manuals for custom equipment, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, customer specifications, and internal procedures.
- Create, design, and publish instruction manuals for nonstandard systems using desktop publishing tools.
- Ensure all documentation meets relevant legislation, industry standards, and customer requirements.
- Generate or scan technical illustrations for inclusion in manuals.
- Review incoming orders to assess documentation needs and plan accordingly.
- Coordinate with Production and Operations to deliver documentation in a timely manner.
- Monitor availability of clerical resources for manual assembly.
- Maintain organized records of all published manuals, including secure backup copies.
- Recommend hardware and software upgrades to improve documentation efficiency.
- Review and update existing manual specifications for accuracy and completeness.
- Produce and maintain internal company forms in accordance with ISO requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Pharmacy, or Chemistry, or 10 years of equivalent experience in technical manual creation for industrial equipment.
- Proven experience in writing technical documentation such as instruction manuals, technical specifications, and project-based technical proposals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Experience using AutoCAD software.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics or P&IDs.
- Familiarity with GMP and pharmaceutical regulations.
- $55,000 - $65,000 per year.
