Underwriting Intern - Summer 2026

IMA Financial Group, Inc.
Strongsville, OH Intern
POSTED ON 12/31/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/30/2026

What You'll Do:

Interns at IMA are a big deal! We understand how significant your decision on where to spend an internship is and what a positive experience can do to catapult your career. The best experiences provide true immersion in a company’s culture, access to and networking with senior leaders and industry experts, opportunities to apply what you learn through real work that drives real results, and a fun and engaging cohort to share the experience with!

With this in mind, we’ve crafted our program to allow you to engage directly in our values driven culture through company, department, and cohort events, all while being challenged with a blend of learning programs, informative networking sessions with IMA associates, and opportunities to engage in department specific work projects that have real world impact for our clients, our business, and our associates.

As an intern, your time will be divided between a core program shared with the entire cohort and specialized work, projects, and programming tailored to the department you join.

Underwriting is excited to announce an incredible opportunity for an intern in our 2026 summer program! This role offers the chance to gain valuable experience at Strongsville, under a normal five-day in-office schedule.

Daily responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct insurance market research to understand how Towerstone fits within the broader insurance space, including wholesale functions and underwriting roles.
  • Shadow underwriters to learn the full underwriting process and assist with marketing, cold calling, and outreach activities.
  • Support agency relationship-building through agency visits, networking opportunities, and participation in local industry events.
  • Create marketing materials such as carrier flyers and assist with organizing internal call lists and campaign setup through Levitate.
  • Collaborate with team members on underwriting, marketing, and research tasks to strengthen industry knowledge and operational proficiency.

We’re proud of the success many of our former interns have had when they’ve pursued careers as IMA associates’ post-graduation and see our internship program as a key talent pipeline. Because of this, preference is given to students closer to graduation, who demonstrate a curiosity about future employment within our industry.

 You Should Have:

  • Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in a program related to one of our host departments (Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management and Insurance)
  • Interest in insurance-related roles; involvement in insurance clubs or Gamma Iota Sigma
  • Students anticipated to graduate in Spring 2026, December 2026, or Spring 2027
  • Previous work or internship experience in a professional services or similar environment
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to problem-solve, think critically, and provide creative solutions

Benefits:

This internship is designed as a learning and development opportunity and does not include participation in the medical, dental, and vision insurance, and any other benefits program that are provided solely to regular full-time associates. You will, however, enjoy IMA paid holidays and five days of LifeBalance PTO during your internship. The LifeBalance PTO is inclusive of vacation, sick time or personal time.

Compensation:

This position is classified as nonexempt and is paid on an hourly basis. The hourly pay range for IMA interns is 18.00 to 22.00 dollars and is determined by your expected graduating year. You will be paid for all hours worked and will be eligible for overtime in accordance with federal and state wage and hour laws.
