The role


The SVP – Fund Operations plays a key role in the oversight and support of the firm’s U.S. mutual fund and ETF platform. Working closely with the Managing Director – Head of Fund Operations, this role assumes primary responsibility for select operational processes, service provider oversight activities, regulatory reporting support, and product lifecycle management.


Main Responsibilities


Fund Oversight & Operational Support

§ Lead day-to-day oversight of assigned mutual funds and ETFs.

§ Review and validate NAV-related reporting, reconciliations, and exception reporting from the fund administrator.

§ Monitor shareholder activity trends and escalate anomalies.

§ Review fund expense accruals and monitor adherence to expense budgets.

§ Validate periodic and annual income and capital gain distribution calculations prior to final approval.

§ Maintain written procedures and contribute to strengthening internal control documentation.


Service Provider Oversight

§ Serve as primary point of contact for designated external service providers (fund administrator, transfer agent, custodian, pricing vendors, etc.).

§ For ETF Funds, serve as primary point of contact for designated external APs (Authorized Participants) and Market Makers.

§ Conduct periodic service level reviews and document oversight activities.

§ Support annual service provider due diligence processes.

§ Escalate operational risks or service issues to the Managing Director.


Product Lifecycle & Data Governance

§ Lead operational execution for fund launches, mergers, liquidations, fee changes, share class launches, and structural changes.

§ Coordinate cross-functional implementation efforts with Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Distribution.

§ Oversee accuracy of internal product database (ATLAS) and ensure timely updates.

§ Ensure completeness and accuracy of external database reporting (Bloomberg, Morningstar, Lipper, etc.).


Board & Regulatory Support

§ Under the direction of the Managing Director:

§ Prepare draft Board materials related to operational oversight, expense review, and service provider reporting.

§ Support documentation required under the Investment Company Act of 1940.

§ Assist in preparing materials for annual advisory contract review processes.

§ Support audit coordination and regulatory examinations.

§ Maintain documentation of oversight controls and remediation tracking.


Reporting & Analysis

§ Prepare recurring operational, performance-adjacent, and product reports for internal stakeholders.

§ Assist in total expense ratio and portfolio turnover review and analysis.

§ Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend enhancements.

§ Participate in system upgrades and automation initiatives.


Team Leadership & Development

§ Serve as back-up to the Managing Director for defined operational processes.

§ Contribute to cross-training and knowledge-sharing within the team.


Qualifications


Essential

§ 7 years of experience in fund operations, fund administration, or asset management.

§ Strong knowledge of mutual funds and ETFs within a ’40 Act framework.

§ Experience reviewing NAV packages and fund accounting outputs.

§ Demonstrated experience interacting with third-party service providers.

§ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

§ Ability to operate independently and escalate appropriately.

§ Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline.

§ Advanced proficiency in Excel.


Preferred

§ Experience preparing or contributing to Board materials.

§ Exposure to expense budgeting and advisory fee calculations.

§ CPA, CFA (or progress toward designation).

§ Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI.


Location 

 

This office-based opportunity is based in our El Segundo, CA office. 

 

Salary  

 

Base Salary Range: $135,000 - $150,000 depending on experience  

Salary may vary depending on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills and experience.
