ACCOUNTANT II
The ILWU Credit Union serves members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and their families within the State of California. We are looking for an Accountant II who can work under minimal supervision to join our Accounting Team. This position will perform standard accounting duties in the areas of accounts payable, bank reconciliations, manage prepaid and fixed asset account subsidiaries and other general accounting functions while ensuring the accuracy of reports, accounts, systems, policies and practices and adhering to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Accountant II is expected to meet deadlines set forth by the Accounting Manager. This position will be responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements and streamlining duties within their area of responsibility. The Accountant II will be expected to interact with staff at all levels of the Credit Union in a friendly and helpful manner.
Primary Responsibilities
The Accountant II is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Reconciles Federal Reserve Bank and other bank accounts.
- Balances assigned general ledgers daily/weekly/monthly.
- Posts detailed entries to accounting system, as needed.
- Balances ATMs and manage ATM-related variances – including REG-E disputes.
- Accounts payable processing, collection of vendors W-9 forms and year-end 1099 processing.
- Manages off-site record storage and inventory maintenance.
- Processes corporate check stop payments and wire transfers.
- Posts miscellaneous entries for month-end closing.
- Prepares various month-end financials statements, records and reports.
- Assists in gathering documentation for board packet.
- Annual submission of accounts payable unclaimed property checks.
- Daily/weekly submission of CTR’s and SAR’s.
- Reconciles COOP, share branch, ACH, share drafts, return items, branch deposits, etc.
- Manages prepaid and fixed asset subsidiaries.
- Acts as custodian of records.
- Process garnishments and levies on member accounts.
- Handles MoneyGram processing daily/monthly.
- Provide backup to other Accounting personnel.
- Supports and participates in continuous improvement activities.
- Represents the Credit Union in a positive and professional manner.
- Maintains confidentiality with member, team members’, and other sensitive information.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 1 year accounting experience, preferably in Credit Union environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
- Intermediate understanding in MS Office: Excel, Word, Windows and Outlook.

Work Environment
Most work is performed in an air-conditioned and heated office environment with exposure to basic office equipment and typical moderate office noise.
