The Material Handler/Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and staging of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods throughout the facility. This position supports production by ensuring timely delivery and removal of materials while operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.
Essential Duties and Reponsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other powered industrial trucks to move materials as required.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers according to safety standards and company procedures.
- Stage raw materials for production lines and remove finished goods as needed.
- Accurately receive, count, and verify incoming materials and complete all necessary documentation.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, including docks, storage, and staging zones.
- Perform regular equipment checks and report issues or maintenance needs promptly.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including PPE requirements.
- Communicate with Supervisors, team members, and all other departments to ensure smooth material flow.
- May assist with cycle counting and inventory control as directed along with additional work as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to obtain a forklift license.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience operating forklifts in a manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics environment preferred.
- Ability to read and follow instructions, including work orders, manifests, and safety guidelines.
- Basic math and computer/data entry skills. Ability to read a tape measure.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
