- Four-year technical degree or 10 years of related welding/engineering experience
- Experience in resistance welding (preferred)
- Automotive manufacturing background strongly preferred
- Knowledge of welding processes, robotics, controls, and automation systems
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
- Strong project management, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills
We are seeking an experienced Welding Engineer to develop, support, and optimize welding and joining processes within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role involves equipment design and integration, process improvement, training, and collaboration with engineering, production, and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and support welding and joining equipment, including robotics and control systems
- Conduct Weld Excellence training (Basic Welding, T-Joint Weld, Multi-Pass Weld, Weld Symbols, Weld Maps, etc.)
- Design, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and processes
- Analyze workflow, workforce utilization, and facility layouts to maximize operational efficiency
- Design, specify, and assist with fabrication, assembly, installation, and debugging of welding systems and tooling
- Lead process design and development of new production techniques
- Establish weld control standards for new products and programs for all weld centers
- Coordinate cost estimates, tooling requirements, and change requests
- Collaborate with management and engineering teams on production capabilities and schedules
- Serve as acting Engineering Manager in their absence
- Promote and enforce safety practices, participate in safety initiatives and incident investigations
- Support plant goals related to safety, environmental sustainability, and continuous improvement
- Four-year technical degree or equivalent experience (10 years)
- Experience in resistance welding, robotics integration, and automation systems
- Strong knowledge of project management, PLCs, and engineering software
- Experience in automotive manufacturing and Lean Manufacturing concepts
- Excellent communication, documentation, and time management skills
- Ability to lead, collaborate across teams, and support equipment troubleshooting
