About the Role
This is a 1099 independent contractor position — not an employee role. You operate as your own business, supply your own tools and products, and maintain full control over your cleaning methods. We provide the clients, the job address, and the client's expectations. The execution is yours.
You'll perform residential cleaning services at client homes across southeastern Wisconsin, scheduled at the customer's choosing. Work includes standard recurring cleans, deep cleans, and move-out cleanings across a variety of home sizes and layouts. Daily driving can reach up to 90 miles round trip across our service area.
This is the right opportunity for an experienced cleaning professional who is already operating — or ready to operate — as their own independent business, and who wants consistent residential clients without sacrificing their autonomy.
Compensation
You are paid a percentage of the gross amount collected from each client. There is no hourly ceiling — the more you clean with the highest standards, the more you make:
- Solo: 60% of gross collected per job
- 2-person team: 30% per person
- 3-person team: 20% per person
Teams are agreed upon between you and the company. The client price is disclosed before every job.
Payment is issued every Friday following the week in which the jobs were completed. Invoices are submitted by you weekly by Friday.
Year 1 Loyalty Bonus: Complete your first full year maintaining our quality standards and your rates automatically increase — solo moves to 65%, 2-person teams to 33%, and 3-person teams to 22%. Do great work, show up consistently, and the raise takes care of itself.
What You'll Do
- Perform thorough cleaning of all interior residential spaces including kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, and common spaces
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, and care for all floor types including hardwood, tile, laminate, and carpet
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms and kitchens to a professional standard — surfaces, fixtures, sinks, toilets, tubs, countertops, and appliances (exterior only)
- Dust and wipe all surfaces, baseboards, blinds, ceiling fans, light fixtures, and furniture
- Clean up to three windows per visit, plus sliding doors and storm doors
- Maintain a high standard of sanitation throughout all assigned areas consistent with Illuminated Cleaning Co.'s quality standards
- Communicate professionally and courteously with clients in their homes, respecting their space and addressing their specific needs
- Complete all assigned homes within the timeframe confirmed with the client
- Identify and use the correct cleaning products and techniques for different surfaces to avoid damage
- Provide corrections to any deficiencies within 48 hours at no additional cost, per contract terms
- Submit a detailed invoice every Friday covering all jobs completed that week

- Operate as your own independent business with an active Federal EIN
- $1,000,000 General Liability Insurance — Illuminated Cleaning Co. LLC must be named as additional insured; certificate required before first job
- Automobile liability insurance on your vehicle
- All required Wisconsin business licenses and permits
- Reliable, insured vehicle capable of daily driving up to 90 miles round trip across the service area
- Your own professional-grade cleaning tools, equipment, and supplies — the company provides nothing and reimburses no expenses
- Satisfactory background check
- Completed W-9 on file before your first job
- Ability to submit detailed weekly invoices by Friday
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2.5 years of verifiable professional residential cleaning experience required
- Professional cleaning background in food-grade, medical facility, commercial, or hotel environments strongly preferred — this is the standard we were built on
- Strong knowledge of proper residential cleaning techniques, non-damaging cleaning methods, and sanitation protocols
- Ability to identify appropriate products and tools for different surfaces, materials, and situations
- Exceptional attention to detail — clients notice what others overlook, and so do we
- Professional, courteous demeanor when working inside client homes
- Ability to work independently, manage your time, and complete assignments without supervision
- Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks including standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 30 lbs for extended periods
Important Information
- This is a 1099 independent contractor position. You are solely responsible for all taxes, insurance, and business expenses.
- Compensation is commission-based. There is no guaranteed minimum hourly rate.
- The company does not reimburse any expenses, equipment, supplies, or transportation costs.
- Up to 25% of your share for a given job may be withheld pending approval of any correction.
- Engagement may be terminated with 7 days' written notice by either party, or immediately for cause per contract terms.
- A 12-month non-solicitation agreement applies to company clients following termination.
- Confidentiality of client information is required during and for 24 months following the engagement.
