Position Overview
The Corrections Clerk II assigned to the Menard Correctional Center Placement Office is responsible for maintaining Placement Office assignment records and housing unit cell maps, as well as processing all job change recommendations. Menard Correctional Center is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to serve in the role. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply.
Essential Functions
- Maintains Placement Office assignment records, including the recording of all cell changes, cell assignments, and work/program assignments.
- Maintains housing unit cell maps.
- Identify all job change recommendations by the Institutional Adjustment Committee, Administrative staff's recommendation for removal, or individuals in custody requests for removal.
- Uses microcomputer and the programs contained therein to gather data for the purpose of formulating reports, responding to internal and external queries, and to effectively communicate policy and procedural practice and changes to affected staff.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school.
- Requires two (2) years clerical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least three (3) years of clerical experience.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working with the Microsoft Office suite or similar programs.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in a correctional setting.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in a customer service setting with telephone experience.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience maintaining a complex filing system.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience maintaining inventory.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
- Requires completion of an approved course in guard training within six (6) months of employment.
- Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer.
