Position Overview

East Moline Correctional Center is seeking a multi-tasker to serve as an Office Coordinator as support staff to our Health Care Unit Administrator and the Health Care Unit. The ideal candidate shall have thorough knowledge of the medical field and medical terminology, organizational skills, as well as knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite with an eye for detail. Essential Functions

  • Functions as an administrative secretary.
  • Serves as support staff to the Health Care Unit Administrator.
  • Directs individuals and authorized parties relating to individuals in custody at the facility to sources of specialized information in the Health Care Unit.
  • Maintains itineraries for the Health Care Unit Administrator.
  • Assists the Health Information Associate in the Health Care Unit as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of secretarial/business college, or completion of high school and two (2) years of related office experience, or two (2) years of independent business experience.
  • Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers at least two (2) years of college, with a degree in the medical field.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working in a correctional setting.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working in a medical office or hospital.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working with medical terminology.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience performing clerical duties in an office. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Office Systems such as Word, Excel, Power Point or equivalent.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
