Essential Functions
- Performs routine manual Labor and a variety of semiskilled labor in the maintenance and care of maintaining building, ground and equipment on the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds.
- Performs exterior maintenance of facilities.
- Performs a variety of semi-skilled work below the journey level such as making minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Maintains equipment in proper worker order.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school plus one year of maintenance work experience preferably associated with the building and mechanical trades and/or heavy equipment operation.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to pass a name-based background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
- Requires the ability to pass a pre-employment physical.
- Requires a valid Commercial Driver's License Class B or greater.
- This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d)). Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Requires ability to use hand and power tools, operate heavy equipment or perform semiskilled manual work in a safe manner.
- Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Requires the ability to work outside in a variety of extreme elements (rain, cold, heat, etc.).
