Position Overview

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire an Account Technician I for the Madden Mental Health Center located in Hines, Illinois. Under general supervision, performs duties utilizing technical accounting principles; verifies a variety of complex financial documents such as vouchers, invoices, Requisitions, P1’s and Receiving Reports, which may require cross reference with contractual agreements or other documents, including Bid Buy.  Posts to statewide computerized accounting system; maintains property control accounting systems and assists in annual inventory.  Initiates corrective action on complex invoice problems with vendors and maintains good public relations.  Serves as back up for Trust Fund Officer.

Essential Functions

  • Performs duties utilizing technical accounting principles. 
  • Serves as back up for Trust Fund Officer. 
  • Monitors invoices to verify accuracy. 
  • Maintains, examines and posts locally held fund books and prepares quarterly reports.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course OR three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.

*Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this class.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers. 
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
