Child Care Program Administrator (Principal Consultant #1170)

Anticipated Starting Salary Range: $62,449 - $78,917

Full Salary Range: $62,449 - $106,278

Office Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Reporting to the Director of Nutrition, will perform work ranging from moderate to considerable complexity applying practices and technical expertise in areas of financial management, nutrition and child nutrition programs - primarily for the Child and Adult Care Food program.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as primary coordinator of the seriously deficient process for the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
  • Oversees the CACFP homes seriously deficient process.
  • Coordinates the contract hearing official to meet program timelines and ensure compliance with program regulations.
  • Serves as contact for program related questions.
  • Implements federal and state regulations and policies.
  • Assists in the development of procedures and technology systems for efficient program administration.
  • Develops programmatic, federal and state reports.
  • Coordinates and monitors schedules and timelines including reporting to USDA on seriously deficient activities.
  • Coordinates multiple project/program assignments which assist in the administration of various child nutrition programs including the yearly approval of program applications, on-site visitations to monitor project implementation and/or compliance with program rules and regulations.
  • Coordinates fiscal, staffing and material resources to produce products defined.
  • Preparing for and participating in program reviews by internal and external auditors and USDA management evaluations including developing any responses to issues identified.
  • Provides technical assistance to Agency staff, local educational agencies and program administrators.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and administration of programmatic and technical assistance procedures pertaining to state and federal child nutrition programs including contributing written articles to department newsletters.
  • Functions as a team member and/or team leader for Agency, center and department project teams.
  • Coordinates efforts with interdisciplinary team members for the completion of assigned projects for departmental activities.
  • Monitors projects and activities of team members.
  • Assists so that projects are on schedule and completed with assigned timelines.
  • Assists in facilitating the interdisciplinary team process by reviewing the content and quality of programmatic materials and project assignments produced.
  • Collects and analyzes data and compiles reports for review, executive approval and implementation.
  • Applies technical expertise in areas of program administration, nutrition and fiscal management of child nutrition programs to research, develop and implement project assignments.
  • Assists in the development of departmental information systems and the gathering of department planning data.
  • Develops and presents information about federal and state nutrition program issues (written and oral) to professional organizations and client groups.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Legal, Paralegal, Accounting, Nutrition or related field, or, a Bachelor's degree plus experience equivalent to a Master's degree in one of the above fields. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
  • Two years of professional experience in legal, business administration, paralegal, accounting, nutrition, or grant administration.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business administration management practices and procedures, legal review, nutrition, food service management, and/or grant management.
  • Knowledge of resources allocation and project coordination involving interdisciplinary teams and local school districts.
  • Considerable knowledge of information systems.
  • Knowledge of computers, database and spreadsheet applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple priorities and work independently or with teams.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to define problems and apply problem solving techniques to complex issues.
  • Travel required.
