    Function / Position Summary

    The HRIS Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) for the school district, ensuring the efficient, accurate, and secure processing of employee data across all employment stages. Analyzes data to determine relevance and eliminate unnecessary redundancies in our data collection process. Recommends processes utilizing technological capabilities. Ensures the accuracy and reliability of data and related meaningful reports to help inform the decision-making process in HR, provide timely deliverables and enhance the overall customer experiences. Serves as the HR liaison between the Information Services (IS), Finance, and Payroll departments to ensure alignment of district and department strategic plans and common goals established across the departments.

    Job Duties / Responsibilities

    • Serve as the primary contact to IS for all Human Resources Information System (HRIS) database management, network support, installation, customization, development, maintenance, upgrades, testing, and system implementations.
    • Supervise the members of the HR data team.
    • Oversees and maintains internal database files, tables, codes, backup files, integrity, and security.
    • Researches and resolves customer inquiries/requests, or system problems, perform scheduled activities, and recommends solutions or alternate methods to meet requirements.
    • Manages permissions, access, personalization, and similar system operations and settings for HR services users.
    • Manage projects/processes related to department advancement including: weekly tracking and documenting/reporting of improvement, training, and communication.
    • Maintains data integrity by running queries, analyzing data and communicating this information to end users.
    • Serve as liaison for staffing processes for all employee groups.
    • Reviews existing business processes, policies and procedures, identifying opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
    • Provide technical support for HR systems, including research, process irregularities, compliance requirements, and innovative solutions to streamline department processes.
    • Train new system users as assigned and train others on new processes/functionality.
    • Develop manuals, document procedures, and training documents to ensure system compliance for all HR information systems.
    • Create and submit all required state and federal reporting (IWAS, EEO 5, ISBE, etc.)
    • Oversee and implement the district’s annual salary increase process—including step advancements, lane changes, and other salary adjustments. Ensuring payroll receives accurate and timely data files.
    • Responsible for all system generated processes (salary letters, reasonable assurance letters, seniority reports, vacancy reports, annual staffing projects, etc.).
    • Responsible for all department systems (HRIS, Absence Management, Employee Evaluation System, Applicant Tracking System, etc.).
    • Maintain awareness and knowledge on current technology trends with a focus on product and service development, delivery and support, and applying streamlined methodologies.
    • Conduct statistical analysis of HR data and metrics, track trends, and develop actionable recommendations to improve processes and outcomes.
    • Produce weekly/monthly reports on department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) tracking performance goals and complete monthly and year end reports from various systems to track and benchmark trends (as assigned).

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Information Technology or Human Resource Management

    Experience / Knowledge

    • Two years’ experience in performing (HRIS) support for HRIS applications that manage functions such as Human Resources, Pension, Benefits, Payroll, and Time and Attendance.
    • SQL/Server Reporting (SSRS) (preferred).
    • Project management experience (preferred).
    • Systems implementation experience (preferred).
    • Experience with HRIS systems i.e. (Skyward, Tyler Munis, Peoplesoft, Oracle, etc.)
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and technical support skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Familiarity with human resource policies and procedures to ensure the HRIS meets organizational needs and goals.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), or related software.
    • Ability to keep information confidential.

    Physical Demands

    • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
    • Must be able to travel to various U-46 sites as needed

    Terms of Employment

    • This is a 12-month position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
