    Middle/High School ESY School Location: Elgin High School (6-12 and Transition)

    Summer school occurs Monday through Friday with no school on June 19, 2026 to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday. Staff must be available on all days during the summer school sessions.

    Professional Learning: 05/27/2026 - 05/28/2026

    Dates: 06/01/2026 - 07/01/2026 (Monday-Thursday)

    Staff hours: 7:45 am to 11:45 am

    Student School day: 08:00 am - 11:30 am

    Summer School Rate: $46.20 (with TRS)

    Function / Position Summary
    To plan a program of study that follows district guidelines, and whenever possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students. Create an environment conducive to learning, motivating students through effective communication and evaluative feedback.

    Job Duties / Responsibilities
    • Implements researched-based teaching strategies that engage all students; acknowledging a range of abilities of students and cultural backgrounds.
    • Displays a thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.
    • Plans for and guides the learning process toward the mastery of curriculum goals, and establishes objectives for all lessons, units, and projects that are clearly communicated to students.
    • Implements school improvement plans and strategies.
    • Collaborates with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis, and as requested by the administration.
    • As appropriate, implements assessments of student progress and communicates progress to students and parents.
    • Sets high expectations for student achievement and behavior, motivates students to work to their highest potential.
    • Assists in the referral and diagnosis of students with learning difficulties, seeking assistance from other school personnel as required.
    • Works cooperatively with building principal and/or director in assessing his/her teaching strengths and weaknesses, planning and implementing a program to improve his/her teaching competencies.
    • Participates on curriculum, personnel, policy or professional development committees related to the educational program.
    • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
    • Assists administration in implementing student discipline policies and maintains order in area(s) assigned and/or supervised in a fair and just manner.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    Education

    • Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement and Bilingual Special Education Teacher-Spanish Approval OR PEL with an LBS I endorsement and an Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) with a Transitional Bilingual Educator (TBE) endorsement (ELS-TBE) in Bilingual Education Teacher-Spanish.
    • Bachelor’s degree in related subject from accredited university.
    • Previous experience in Special Education (preferred).
    Experience / Knowledge
    • Bilingual Spanish /English written and verbal required.
    • Knowledge of common core standards.
    • Knowledge of instructional and resource programs for students with special education eligibility.
    Physical Demands
    • Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
    • Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials up to 30 lbs. with proper technique.
    • Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
    Terms of Employment
    • This is a temporary position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
    • U-46 reserves the right to terminate the position by the third day of student attendance if a minimum number of students do not register or enroll.
