- Supervise custodial operations during evening and night shifts, ensuring proper coverage, performance, and adherence to district cleaning standards.
- Conduct nightly building inspections to verify cleanliness, safety, and readiness for morning occupancy.
- Assign, monitor, and follow up on custodial tasks; ensure corrective actions are completed in a timely manner.
- Respond promptly to after-hours inquiries, requests, and emergencies, coordinating necessary action and documenting responses.
- Coordinate custodial support for evening school events, including setup and post-event cleaning.
- Monitor custodial staff schedules, attendance, and timekeeping during assigned shifts to ensure adequate coverage.
Provide coaching, training, and on-the-job guidance to night custodial staff. - Enforce district work rules, safety procedures, and conduct standards among night shift personnel.
- Communicate effectively with daytime custodial supervisors, head custodians, and department leadership to report shift activities, staffing concerns, and outstanding needs.
- Recommend improvements in custodial practices, supplies, or equipment to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Maintain accurate shift records, including work completion, incidents, and emergency responses.
- Attend scheduled training, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience in custodial or facilities operations across multiple sites.
- Experience with planning, scheduling, budgeting, and personnel management.
- Strong knowledge of custodial techniques,cleaning equipment, cleaning practices, and sanitation standards.
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Frequent work in active, fast-paced environments with interruptions.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds using proper technique; operate lifts and other custodial equipment.
- Ability to work on feet for extended periods and perform inspections in multiple building environments.
- This is a 12-month position (Monday-Friday). Salary and benefits are as established by the Board of Education. Work hours will typically be 2pm-11pm; however, the position will require schedule flexibility, including day and weekend availability to meet operational needs. Travel between buildings is required.
- The salary range for this position is $60,243.00 - $90,353.00. Our typical practice is to hire between the minimum and the midpoint ($75,298.00).
