The Quad City Area REALTORS® is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Headquartered in Bettendorf, Iowa. The Association has 5 employees and serves about 985 members from both Iowa and Illinois.


The candidate must have a strong understanding of business finances and non-profit governance principles. A minimum of 3 – 5 years of proven experience as an executive director or manager who has developed successful strategies and long-range plans. Individual must have excellent people skills, an appreciation and understanding of political advocacy, be a strategic and tactical thinker, excellent communication (oral and written) and public speaking skills, effective management and proven leadership, and active community involvement. 


REALTOR® Association experience is preferred.


Competitive compensation with attractive executive benefits will be negotiated.

Salary range: $100,000 - $130,000.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the chief staff executive for Quad City Area REALTORS®, a professional trade association representing REALTORS® operating in communities in both Iowa and Illinois. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Association’s operations, including strategic planning, financial oversight, staff leadership, member services, government affairs, and compliance with policies established by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).


The CEO plays a key role in shaping the direction of the Association by recommending and contributing to the development of its mission, vision, goals, and policies. Within this framework, the CEO plans, directs, coordinates, and oversees all programs, staff, and activities to ensure organizational objectives are achieved, strategic plans are executed, and member needs are effectively met.


As a strategic advisor to the Board, the CEO ensures the Association remains relevant, forward-thinking, and member-focused, while promoting the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct in the real estate industry.


DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY:

Within the limits of the Constitution, Bylaws and Rules and Regulations, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for and has authority to accomplish the duties as set forth below:

  • Ensures the Board of Directors are kept fully informed on conditions and operations of the Association, and on all important factors influencing them. Attends all meetings of the Board of Directors.
  • Plans, formulates and recommends for the approval of the Board of Directors basic policies and programs which will further the objectives of the Association.
  • Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans aligned with the association’s mission and goals.
  • Advises the Board of Directors on policy, program development, industry trends, and organizational performance to support effective governance. Implements Board decisions unless otherwise directed.
  • Develops for purpose of day-to-day administration specific policies, procedures and programs to implement the general policies established by the Board of Directors.
  • Maintains official minutes of the Board of Directors and other official meetings of the Association and provides security for all files, legal and historic documents, membership files and mailing lists.
  • Establishes a sound organizational structure for the Association office.
  • Directs and coordinates all approved programs, projects and major activities of the Association office staff.
  • Executes contracts and commitments that may be authorized by the Board of Directors or establishes policies.
  • Makes travel arrangements for the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), President, along with other Association members asked to travel at the expense of the Association.
  • Maintains a close relationship with the Association Attorney. Assures that the Association Attorney is on the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), Illinois REALTORS® (IR) and Iowa REALTORS® (IR) mailing list.
  • Assists the President of the Association in all matters, to handle administration and generally coordinate all Association activities.
  • Many aspects of the Quad City Area REALTORS are affected by our location (NAR Jurisdiction) in both the states of Illinois and Iowa.
