Overview

Position Summary

The STEM Enrichment Program/Professional Development Associate supports the IMSA MetroEast Innovation Hub by developing, coordinating, and delivering high-quality STEM enrichment opportunities for students and professional learning for educators. The Associate collaborates with school districts, community partners, and the Innovation Hub Manager to expand access to innovative STEM programming, with an emphasis on underserved communities. This position includes direct instruction of mathematics and coding, teacher coaching, and coordination of enrichment initiatives.

  • Working Dates: August 10, 2026-June 30, 2027
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30Pm, with some evenings and weekends throughout the year
  • Maximum of 240 hours throughout school year
  • Pay: $35 per hour

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Data Collection and School Selection: Collect and analyze data to identify schools that are strong candidates for evening, after-school, summer, and other STEM enrichment opportunities, with an emphasis on underserved communities.
  • Program Planning and Implementation: Plan, organize, and deliver engaging STEM enrichment experiences for students, including hands-on mathematics and computer coding lessons that foster problem-solving, computational thinking, creativity, and collaboration. Develop age-appropriate lesson plans and instructional materials, gather supplies, coordinate volunteers, adapt activities to meet diverse learner needs, and support successful implementation of STEM programs.
  • School and Community Collaboration: Work closely with the Innovation Hub Manager, school administrators, teachers, and community partners to coordinate logistics and ensure programs align with local needs and district goals.
  • Program Evaluation: Collect participant evaluations and program data from students, teachers, and partners to assess program effectiveness and support continuous improvement.
  • Teacher Professional Development: Design and facilitate high-quality STEM professional learning that equips educators with research-based instructional strategies, hands-on activities, and classroom resources. As needed, provide teacher coaching, instructional support, and classroom consultation to strengthen STEM instruction. Model effective mathematics, coding, and STEM lessons in K–12 classrooms, demonstrating best practices in inquiry-based learning, student engagement, and technology integration. Collaborate with school teams to build teacher capacity and support sustainable implementation of innovative STEM practices.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and goals of the IMSA MetroEast Innovation Hub.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, a STEM field, or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Experience coordinating educational programs, events, or working with K–12 schools.
  • Knowledge of STEM instructional practices, including mathematics and/or computer coding.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to equitable access to high-quality STEM education.

Working Conditions

Occasional evening and weekend work is required to support after-school programs, summer programs, outreach events, and professional development workshops. Travel to schools and partner sites throughout the Innovation Hub service region may be required.
