This position serves as a WEB developer,performing difficult and

specialized professional programming functions supporting the Illinois

State Police (DoIT/ISP). In this role you will design and writeprogram

specifications and code for complex distributed systems enhancements and

new web application development. In addition, you will perform technical

and advisory tasks in the areas of design, construction, and maintenance

of applications and interview users on distributed and web-based data

processing needs and technical studies. This position also maintains,

analyzes, recommends, and enhances new procedures and techniques to

improve the supported application systems.

## Essential Functions

• Under general direction, serves as a Web Developer for the
  
  

Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), supporting the

Illinois State Police (ISP), performing difficult and specialized

professional web application development work in the Information

Services/Applications Section.

• Performs technical and advisory tasks in the areas of design,
  
  

construction, and maintenance of applicatons.

• Interviews and consults with users on distributed- and web-based
  
  

data processing needs and technical studies.

• Maintains, analyzes, recommends, and enhances new procedures and
  
  

techniques to improve the supported application systems.

• Serves as a resource and contact for users of the web systems, other
  
  

technical staff, and the ISP help desk personnel.

• Provides guidance and training to lower-level staff on the proper
  
  

programming techniques, applications, documentation, standards, and

requirements.

• Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology
  
  

field by continuing education through meetings, training sessions,

seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain

current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.

• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably
  
  

within the scope of duties enumerated above.
