Job Description:
Illinois Crop Improvement Association (IL Crop) was formed in 1922 as the unbiased authority for seed certification and grain quality analysis in the state of Illinois.
The Identity Preserved Grain (IPG) Lab’s goal is to assist customers determine grain characteristics based on their individual needs. The IPG Lab supports farmers, breeders, researchers, seed companies, and more develop and determine grain characteristics through chemistry compositional testing, dry and wet milling, and many more specialty methods.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Introductory IPG Lab duties include, but are not limited to:
· Prepping/organizing grain samples
· Processing samples
· Counting seed for later analysis
· Grinding samples
· Cleaning lab equipment and work areas
· Disposing of completed tests and samples
Trained IPG Lab employee duties include, but are not limited to:
· Operating sample dividers
· Operating other laboratory size grinders
· Operating NIR grain analyzers and other lab equipment
· Heavy assistance in sample and data throughput

Accountability:
The IPG Lab Technician reports directly to the IPG Lab Supervisor
Requirements:
The position will involve working in a laboratory setting and candidates may be asked to stand or sit for extended periods of time. The work conditions can include dust, seed, and noisy grinding equipment. Applicants may also be asked to lift and/or carry heavy samples, sample boxes, and/or supplies as necessary. Accommodations can be made and PPE is provided.
