Overview
The Illinois Coalition for Community Services (ICCS) is seeking a flexible and dependable Community Youth Mentor (Floater) to support our TeenREACH program in Charleston, Illinois. This as-needed role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with youth and able to step in to cover shifts during staff absences, increased program needs, special events, or expanded programming.
As a TeenREACH Community Youth Mentor (Floater), you will provide consistent, positive support to youth while adapting to different schedules, group needs, and program activities. This position plays a vital role in maintaining safe staffing levels and continuity of care for youth participants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Program Coordinator in the planning and development of engaging activities that reflect program core services and are developmentally age appropriate.
- Follow and enforce safety policies and protocols.
- Assist Program Coordinator in the planning and implementation of recruitment efforts.
- Encourage family communication by providing updates on youth participation, behaviors, and achievements.
- Work effectively with students in after school activities and assist with behavior management, interpersonal disputes, and build trusting relationships to provide guidance and mentorship.
- Provide youth with study skills that will enhance their education
- Empower youth to make positive changes in their communities
- Organize and participate in recreational activities and educational outings
- Support the preservation of relationships and connections with CUSD 1 personnel.
- Attend recommended professional development trainings.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the TeenREACH Program Coordinator.

- Ability to adapt to new situations.
- Possess or be able to attain a CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with youth.
- Ability to manage conflicts and provide constructive feedback.
- Passion for educating and empowering young individuals to succeed
- Ability to think creatively, manage time well, and utilize effective problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s preferred, high school diploma or GED required.
- Pass all background checks and authorization procedures.
- Preferred previous experience working with children or adolescents.
- Valid Driver’s License
Job Type: Floater
Pay: $20.00/hour
Expected hours: Varies; Max 15 hours a week
Program Hours:
- Summer – 8:00am – 12pm
- School Year – 3:00pm – 6:00pm
- Monday – Friday
