Professional Tutor- General

The Tutor is primarily responsible for facilitating student learning and helping students understand concepts or applications of course content. This position supports students and assists them in gaining effective study skills and maximizing their potential for their academic success.

Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours a week and willing to work at both campus locations Peoria and East Peoria Campus.

1. Support peer tutoring programs to help students succeed.
2. Develop and share study skills and learning materials.
3. Assist with student success workshop materials and content delivery.
4. Support students and faculty in the current academic environment.
5. Contribute to effective tutoring strategies for specific courses.
6. Provide overall academic support in assigned subject.
7. Professional, knowledgeable and patient at all times.
8. Help create a positive learning atmosphere within the Academic Support Program at all times.
9. Maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries with students.
10. Prepare supplemental materials Specific to subject.
11. Perform related duties as require.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

1.  Associate's degree or higher in related field.
2. Two to three years of experience working in an academic learning environment.
3. Experience working with both neurodiverse and neurotypical learners.
4. Experience facilitating workshops designed to support student learning.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
7. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

1. Prior enrollment and completion in the selected course.
2. Experience with Academic Software applications.
3. Experience working in an online learning environment.
4.  Experience working in higher education.

Salary : $18 - $22
