Illinois Casualty Company is growing, and we have an opportunity for an Underwriting and Marketing Systems Analyst to join one of the leading providers of insurance protection for the food and beverage industry. This is an entry level position.

The Underwriting and Marketing Systems Analyst supports the successful implementation of business and technology initiatives by translating operational needs into clear specifications, coordinating user acceptance testing, and validating system and website changes before rollout. The position serves as a liaison among Underwriting, Marketing, Product Development, Information Technology, and other stakeholders to confirm that enhancements function as intended and support a consistent experience for employees, agents, and policyholders.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plan, coordinate, and complete user acceptance testing for Underwriting projects in the IDMS test environment before production rollout.
  • Develop test plans and test cases that reflect end-to-end business workflows, including new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements, billing, printing, forms, rating, permissions, and downstream impacts when applicable.
  • Write clear and complete project specifications that document business objectives, current and desired workflows, system requirements, field behavior, user roles, notifications, reporting needs, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
  • Manage Underwriting and Marketing issue trackers by documenting problems and enhancements, validating priority and scope, maintaining status and ownership, following up on open items, and confirming resolution before closure.
  • Test website changes across the agent portal, policyholder portal, public-facing website, and online rating tools, including navigation, content, forms, links, permissions, data display, mobile responsiveness, and integration with IDMS.
  • Validate that website and online rating changes provide accurate information and a practical user experience for agents, policyholders, employees, and other approved users.
  • Document testing results, defects, screenshots, examples, and replication steps; clearly communicate discrepancies to project owners and developers and retest corrections.
  • Participate in project meetings, lessons-learned reviews, and post-rollout verification; identify trends and recommend improvements to specifications, testing practices, and project communication.
  • Monitor website content to ensure data, forms, personnel information, and other materials remain current and are accurately displayed for agents, policyholders, employees, and other visitors.
  • Coordinate website enhancements by gathering requirements from applicable departments. Develop mock-ups to include with specifications that will support accurate, timely programming of requested changes.
  • Maintain organized project records and supporting documentation in the designated systems and repositories.
  • Provide training, release notes, or other user guidance for completed enhancements when assigned.
  • Update and maintain guidelines and instruction guides in Policy Manager.

Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial insurance underwriting, marketing, policy administration, online rating, website administration, quality assurance, or business analysis preferred.
  • Ability to understand and test detailed insurance workflows, system rules, rating logic, forms, documents, and user permissions.
  • Ability to analyze information, identify inconsistencies, troubleshoot practical problems, and distinguish expected behavior from defects.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to organize complex requirements into clear, specific, and testable instructions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, issue trackers, deadlines, and follow-up responsibilities with consistent attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with business users, developers, project owners, department leaders and to communicate testing concerns objectively.
  • Ability to protect confidential company, agent, policyholder, and system information and use test data appropriately.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, workflow, and schedule form.
