ESL HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER (SPANISH)
JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE:
High School Teacher
RESPONSIBLE TO:
High School Principal
SUMMARY:
Instruct students in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth in the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employed per teacher contract.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
1. Provide English language instruction to Spanish-speaking ELL students in accordance with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) standards.
2. Develop lesson plans tailored to students' language proficiency levels and academic needs.
3. Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to support student learning and integration.
4. Support students in both individual and small group settings.
5. Participate in professional development opportunities and team meetings as needed.
EVALUATION:
Evaluation will be conducted in accordance with applicable laws and provisions established through the collective bargaining process.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Education
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with ESL or English as a new Language endorsement.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Fluent in Spanish (spoken and written). Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in everyday situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents; skill in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
