School Nurse
Salary is $72,500 plus iSave incentive for School Certified Nurses
Summary: To protect and promote the health and well-being of students and staff members of the charter school by assuming a leadership role in the development and implementation of a school wide health program.
Qualifications: High school diploma or its equivalent required.
- New Jersey School Nurse certificate
- Current license to practice as a registered nurse in New Jersey.
- Current certification in Heartsaver AED course (adult CPR and AED; child CPR and AED) which is designed by the American Heart Association.
- A minimum of three years’ experience working as a school nurse preferred.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Knowledge of child growth and development, community and family dynamics, cultural diversity, current health issues and wellness education.
- Demonstrate effective skills in problem solving, organization, planning, record keeping and human relations.
- Possess knowledge of laws and regulations regarding student immunization and health requirements before enrollment in charter school.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of the use of various technological software and equipment for tasks such as, but not limited to, word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual presentations, and telecommunications.
- Possess a valid driver’s license (preferred).
Prior to employment, the following must be addressed:
- Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person’s offense in accordance with N.J.S.A 18A:6-7.1.
- Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.2.
- Furnish documentation that the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test, as required by N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.3, has been completed.
- Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school director find appropriate and acceptable.

Essential Performance Responsibilities (The following description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.)
- The School Nurse is an essential member of the iLearn Charter School faculty, responsible for upholding the school's vision, mission, and policies. The core duties involve managing all health services and screenings required by law and school policy, and providing emergency care for sudden illnesses or injuries to students and staff. The nurse must maintain up-to-date and confidential health records, including immunization data, and actively work to prevent and control communicable diseases through education and established procedures.
- Collaboration is a key aspect of this role, as the nurse will work with students, parents, staff, and community health professionals to ensure a healthy school climate. The nurse is the primary point of contact for advising on student health and safety, and is responsible for reporting any evidence of child abuse, substance abuse, or other severe medical or social conditions. The position also includes developing and implementing the school’s emergency and crisis management plans, administering prescribed medications, and providing special care for students with disabilities or chronic health issues. Additionally, the nurse must maintain a safe and clean health office, stay current with professional training, and uphold the highest ethical and professional standards in all interactions.
Equipment: Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements:Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Supervise:
- Students
- When assigned, will supervise nursing students.
- When assigned, provide supervision and/or assistance to new employees that were hired for the school nursing department.
Terms of Employment: Twelve Month Employee
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with New Jersey state law (Title 18A) and the provisions of the iLearn Schools policy on evaluation of non-certified personnel
